Thank you for your reflections on the “Prodigal Son” parable. It was very comforting and
opened my eyes and heart to many nice thoughts and revelations about my own life’s
journey.
Thank you for the reminder not to worry. To worry is to insult the Creator!
Imagine no worry no fear…..just Jesus, I trust in you!! I wish I could say I do this !00 percent
of the time, but I am getting better at totally trusting our Lord and Savior , Jesus. It is the
only way to live in peace and REAL SECURITY!
What a great reminder to “stay in the day”, the moment, the present! Keep your head and heart
where your feet are! Easy to say, but not always easy to do! Practice, practrice, practrice!
When I can keep it in the moment, there are so many graces that I get and I realize what
I would miss each day if I were living in the past or the future!
Yes, Linda, it is hard. Our brains are thought machines. The brain just cranks out tens of thousands of thoughts every day, ninety percent of which are as redundant as they are useless. Most of the time, we are rehashing/reliving the past (usually of something unpleasant) or fretting (not to be confused with planning) about the future. The fact is, the NEXT MOMENT NEVER COMES. There is only the NOW. And when we practice awareness of the RIGHT NOW, one realizes God’s Kingdom is here.
I don’t know how I would exist without spending most of my time thinking, breathing, and
loving my God, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I feel like I would be one of the apostles
saying to Jesus, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Where else
would I go? Please excuse me if I didn’t quote it exactly as it is in the bible, but I always
think of this scripture.
Yes, Linda, there is. It’s counter-intuitive, but you are right. Sometimes, it’s better “to just be.” I guess that’s why we Homo sapiens are called human beings. 🙂
How powerful is Mary Madgalene’s life to me……I identify with the sinner in her who then
comes to life through her encounter with Jesus and through his love for her she knows she
is forgiven! What a miracle of Jesus’ love for all of us!
Silence is the language of God……I really really love this experience …..
Be still, and know that I am God. Another quote which reminds me to just “be”.
I think I heard somewhere, we are not called “doings”, we are called “BEings”…just be.
Yeah, human BEINGS, not human DOINGS. I love that.
And a good quote I like to remember is, “Silence is God’s first language. Everything else is a weak translation.” God is not in the thunder or the earthquake or the fire. He comes as a whisper. Will we hear Him?
“No act of Kindness , no matter how small, is ever wasted.” This is a quote from Aesop.
Thank you for the great reminder about showing kindnesses and smiles to everyone we meet!
What a great way to go through our day!
Thank you so much for expressing and explaining what a precious gift this country
is and how much we have to be grateful for ….as you say, “there is no country greater than
the United States of America”……God Bless America!
I loved the part where Donna describes Jesus as being slow and deliberate, no anxiety.
What a blessing to be able to experience life with no anxiety! I have found that spending
time with Jesus helps me tremendously in dispelling fears and anxiety!
It is important to remember that Jesus was a man of his time and place. He lived in what we now call the Middle East — stress on the word East. He was influenced by Eastern religions and practices. There is no doubt he was a Jewish Mystic who prayed and meditated, which aren’t necessarily different things. People who pray and meditate regularly have less stress and anxiety and learn to appreciate better the present moment, nature, and life in general.
Thank you for the beautiful homily and great reminders about our relationships… and the
importance of spending quality time with our Lord Jesus Christ. In the end, I feel that I will never regret spending time with Jesus ….it’s a huge investment…….investment for my life now and in eternity. For me there is no comparison about the joy and peace I get from being present to our Lord. There is no way I can get that from a cell phone or the internet.
Television, cell phones, social media . . . . All fine in moderation. But moderation gives way to excess and even addiction, and then meditation — the silencing of our minds required to hear the whisper of God’s voice — is neglected. Not good.
Thank you, Linda, for always posting such joyful and encouraging comments. Your last post reminded me of this song, which I have played in church but not in a while:
Thanks be to God for giving us the Holy Spirit! Praying to the Holy Spirit has brought such
grace into my life! I have heard it said that the acronym for FEAR IS (Face Everything and Recover)
when we turn it over to God. We fling our fear at His feet! He will protect us!
Love sitting in silence and listening to the voice of God……this is prayer….
I am usually doing all the talking and asking when praying so sitting in silence is such
good medicine for my soul……love eucharistic adoration…….sitting in silence and
enjoying the presence of God!! Many graces have come to me when I sit in silence
and just “be” with our Lord and savior.
Thanks for your comment, Linda. I’m glad you saw the homily, b/c I almost forgot to add it to the Homilies Playlist. (I only added it this morning.) Yeah, it is always good to be mindful — to be conscious — of the ultimate consciousness that is God. If God can be aware of all of us, certainly we can be conscious of God — at least more than we typically are. We all must strive to raise our awareness.

When I start to focus on how much I miss my parents, I will be so happy to dwell on the fact
that they are home. It was good to be reminded of that.

Yes, Linda. We must remember we are all made in the image and likeness of God. We are all his sons and daughters in whom S/He is well pleased!
